WW2 Japanese Type 30 Bayonet
WW2 Japanese type 30 bayonet to fit early type 30 Japanese Arisaka rifle and type 38 and 99 rifles. These bayonets were manufactured at the Kokura Tokyo Arsenal between 1897 and 1945. This is one of the early manufactured because of the hooked quillion guard. The length of the blade is 15 5/8" long with a rear push button lock latch. The frog is leather but is rock hard, and has been on the scabbard for a long time . The blade was blued, most still remains, some pitting to the scabbard.
