WW1 1" Nordenfelt projectile Trench Art Shell engraved France 1919 and HG. Great collector piece.
The 1-inch Nordenfelt gun was an early rapid-firing light gun intended to defend larger warships against the new small fast-moving torpedo boats in the late 1870s to the early 1880s. The steel bullet is formed of hardened cast steel with a sharp-pointed head. A brass envelope is placed over the projectile for the purposes of a gas check and for rotating the bullet. The cartridge case is of solid drawn brass and is centre primed.
