Steel Commemorative Medal for Non Combatants, for the Victory against
France during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 - 71.
The medal was instituted in 1871 by Kaiser Wilhelm I. Issued to non
combatants - hence in limited numbers compared to the bronze one.
Obverse side: "Fur Pflichttreue im Kriege" (For Devotion to duty
during the War).
Reverse: The Iron Cross and the years 1870 1871.
